This first variation was meant to give the hint that all is not necessarily perfect in paradise. I intentionally left the theme played only by the piano so that the dissonances and illogical chord progressions could sing a little bit. My hope was to make the point that the foundation of this story was complex but beautiful in its non-conformity.
