about

One of my favorite songs of all time is "Moonglow"; particularly for its structure versitility as a swing number and as a ballad. When the assistant director and I were planning the music and the "ballet" part of the show, he mentioned that "Moonglow" would be perfect because of its torch-song feel. I, of course, jumped at the opportunity to write it. I felt that the scene needed to end with "the rest of the story" so that the audience could hear why, in this fictional world, the song was so poignant to the characters and its meaning being both whimsical (in the swing version) and quite intimate (in the slower torch song version). The lyrics are intended to match the thirties style of subtle and not-so-subtle innuendo.
