This is the piece that played as the audiences watches a murder unfold before them. It starts with a casual interaction between a couple enjoying a cocktail as he paints her picture, but as she seems to pass out, the scene and therefore, the music take a very dark turn. This is one of the more challenging pieces I've ever had to write. The scene (sans dialogue) is approximately 30 minutes long. Additionally, tension needs to continue to build throughout. Adding a bridge or chorus to the song structure would have given the audience too much opportunity to catch their breath. Alas, you have a 30 minute piece with very strict song structure. Another quick note - due to stage availability, we weren't able to time the actions out with the music until tech week when I was unable to make any changes. Fortunately, the timing gambles I took, and the talented direction of Jack Schultz made it pay off. Sit back, close your eyes, take a listen, and enjoy!
